Christmas of Love and Hope – A New Year of Peace 2026
Dear Internet Visitors, lovers of our Venerable Élisabeth Bruyère,
It is with great joy that I offer you my best wishes for the 2025-2026 holiday season. Together, let us proclaim the Good News – in the Emmanuel, God draws near to us. Let us share our joy in believing, hoping, and knowing that we are loved by God.
On January 6, 2026, the Church will conclude the Ordinary Holy Year 2024-2026, a year during which we have become pilgrims of hope. We have celebrated with the universal Church and contemplated the Lord Jesus, who is the gate of salvation (Jn 10:7, 9). We responded to the invitations extended by our late Pope Francis and our beloved Pope Leo XIV. Our hope for lasting peace in the heart of our world engulfed in violence and threats of war has been rekindled. It is this Peace that Jesus came to bring to earth, this Peace that we celebrate with the angels who proclaimed, “Glory to God and Peace on earth to men and women of good will.” In 2026, let us become pilgrims of peace.
I am filled with gratitude for your deep trust in the Venerable Mother Élisabeth Bruyère. It is a privilege for us, the Sisters of Charity of Ottawa, to receive your prayer requests ... with complete confidence, you share your most cherished intentions and entrust them to the tenderness of the Father's heart through the intercession of our Venerable Mother.
As we come to the end of a year in which we, the Sisters of Charity of Ottawa, have celebrated 180 years of the spiritual legacy of our Venerable Mother Élisabeth Bruyère, we invite you to give thanks with us for the compassion that the Eternal Father revealed in his Son, Jesus, Emmanuel, God with us, compassion that we are invited to show to the vulnerable people around us, as our Venerable Mother Élisabeth Bruyère did so generously.
