Where are we?

Africa

Malawi and Zambia

1946 - 2000: In 1946, the first mission was opened in Guilleme, Malawi: a primary school and a girls' boarding, along with a clinic responded to the immediate needs. In 1949, in Ludzi, we responded to education and health care needs with primary and secondary schools,a boarding facility and a hospital. Then, we began to work toward the formation of the local clergy by accepting a variety of responsibilities at the Major Seminary in Kachebere. Finally, a convent was built in Mkanda where the sisters became involved in parish pastoral work. This is where we also find the pre-Novitiate.

In 1961, we crossed the border into Zambia. A school and a boarding facility were established in Kasiya. The following year, St. Monica Secondary School with boarding facilities opened its doors in Fort Jameson, now Chipata. Two other missions were soon opened: Kalichero with its rural health center and Elisabeth Bruyère Convent which houses the Novitiate.

21st century: With the young generation of Malawian and Zambian consecrated women, we continue our involvement with the poor of both countries through development projects, through working with children orphaned because of AIDS, through our ministry to AIDS sufferers and those suffering from malnutrition, through the education of women and children.
