A Unique Experience in a Parish in Rockland
On November 5th, the Catholic Parish in Rockland organised a day trip to Toronto for the official inauguration of the patrimonial exhibit of the Church and Rectory of Rockland at Queen’s Park (the Parliament Building for the province of Ontario). Our Sisters Marie-Claire Lefebvre and Raymonde Beaudry joined the group of parishioners to visit this exhibit conceived and prepared by the Archivist of the parish, Mr. Louis Aubry, encouraged by the Parish Priest, Father Jean-François Morin, and set up in the halls of Queen’s Park through the influence of our Provincial Deputy, Mr. Jean-Marc Lalonde. How interesting it was to look at photographs, documents and various objects depicting the evolution of Most Holy Trinity Church and its magnificent rectory. The Honourable Aileen Carroll, Minister of Culture and Minister Responsible for Seniors, was the spokesperson for the event and addressed the group in French. After a delicious luncheon served in the deputies’ meeting room, the program included a press conference in the Press Room, and a guided tour of the Parliament Buildings. At 3 p.m., we were led to the legislative assembly room to listen to a presentation of the Project of the Exhibit being given by our Deputy who added a petition for the widening of Route 17/174 in the Rockland area. For both of us, this day was a unique and unforgettable experience, and another opportunity to be present with the parishioners for this special occasion.
