A word from Mother Bruyère

Two Protestant gentlemen were very attentive to me during the trip, in the Hotel where we stopped while waiting for the steamboat to Bytown; they saw to my having supper, and did the same for two ladies who were with me. When the time came to pay, the owner was as polite as they were and would not receive payment.
