A word from Mother Bruyère
June 5, 1945
Yesterday evening, I went to visit some sick immigrants who are living in miserable sheds as are the immigrants in Montreal. I changed the dressing for a young 14 year old girl; there is nothing sadder than the condition of these poor people when they disembark. The mother of this young girl was telling me the previous day that a man died right next to her daughter. People are all placed helter-skelter.
