July 13, 1845

The immigrations agent sent us an Irishman with a note assuring us that we would be paid for the care we would give him.  The Doctor told us we could ask for as much as three dollars a week.  I am not yet sure if we have been entrusted with the immigrants, but appearances would lead us to think so.  If they do entrust them to us, God will turn the evil that was wished us into good.Mother Bruyère writing
