Letters written in 1847
To Mother Elizabeth McMullen, Superior, General Hospital of the Grey Nuns, Montreal
General hospital, Bytown,
December 31, 1847My very dear Mother,
Would you kindly send us the copy of the petition that our Father prepared last year regarding the land for the Hosopital. Our good Sister Ste-Croix had taken a copy which she left behind, it was signed by our Father Telmon, Sister Ste-Croix and myself (although I was not present). If the opportunity does not present itself, please send it immediately by post since we need it to bring to the Ordnance Officers who are requesting it.
Sister St. Peter is always in immediate danger of death, she is making a novena to Mr. Olier; I ask that you pray with us. Our Father Telmon send his best wishes, etc. etc.
From day to day I await the little Jesus, the money is with us; I am eager for it to come for we have had to lend ours.
Farewell, my good Mother, forgive me for writing so little and having you pay the postal costs. I am rushed and it is late. Farewell, my good Mother.
Your loving daughter,
Seven ministers of the Protestant Church wrote to prevent our obtaining the land for the Hospital; let us hope that nothing will come of it.
