Associates Retreat in the United States
BLESSED ARE THEY WHO HUNGER AND THIRST FOR JUSTICE
It was with this theme that the Associates of St. Joseph Province gathered for a retreat day on March 26, under the direction of two Franciscans of the Strict Observance. Since the group had chosen the Beatitudes as its theme for its meetings this year, the Gospel for that Sunday was conducive to bringing one of the Beatitudes to bear on the story of the Samaritan Woman at Jacob’s Well. Two conferences, a Eucharistic celebration, times for personal reflection, for prayer and sharing, helped everyone to internalize the Gospel message. The choosing of a Lenten Saturday for retreat has become a well-appreciated custom in the group, helping each one to better live this season in the Church calendar.
