Inspired by Vatican II, certain North American dioceses sent some of their priests on mission. We were invited to
collaborate with the missionary team of the Ottawa Diocese in Brazil.
1961 - 2000: In 1961, a team of four sisters traveled to Brazil. Their first home and ministry were at Mercy Hospital in Tupi Paulista, in the state of São Paulo. With the St. Vincent de Paul Society, we took up the ministry to the elderly at the Tupi Paulista Nursing Home..

Evangelization is at the heart of our mission. Our involvement in youth ministry, in catechesis for children and adolescents, the formation of leaders for the Basic Christian Communities and the
proclamation of the Word in different places, all of this calls upon our resources and our creativity. From one convent to another, whether it be at Ferraz Vasconcelos (São Paulo), at Monte Azul (Minas Gerais), or at Panorama, we find our sisters with the street children, with the youth from the slums, with women in need, with street groups and Basic Christian Communities, with municipal health councils and with the youth. Shoulder to shoulder, we try to build a more fraternal society, a civilization of love.
21st century: Two formation houses have opened their doors to receive young women
interested in religious life: the pre-Novitiate at Sta. Barbara (São Paulo) and the Novitiate at Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais). The regional house has moved from Tupi Paulista to Guarulhos (São Paulo). A community of three sisters lives among the poor in Vila Madalena (São Paulo). In 2004, a new mission was opened in Barreiras (Bahia). Deeply influenced by the documents which came from Medellin, Puebla and Santo Domingo, we maintain the preferential option for the poor. We work to form a community of men and women able to face challenges and conflicts through non-violent resistance.
