Our Mission in Education

We are educators for life

In the first years of the foundation at Bytown (today, Ottawa), Elisabeth Bruyère was called to the ministry of education.

"Let us never forget, my dear daughters, that our ecclesiastical superiors have made it a duty for us to dedicate ourselves to teaching. We have accepted this ministry, let us generously fulfill it."

(Elisabeth Bruyère, December 24, 1875)

Today, our presence in the schools in North America has diminished. However, faithful to our foundation project, we continue to live our mission in education and our evangelizing mission through teaching and other forms of education. In the way in which we approach others, we are educators; in the way in which we help them to become self-reliant, we are educators; in our way of proclaiming the Gospel, we are educators. We are particularly attentive to the youth by promoting their development and by helping them find meaning in their life.

Our educational style aims at the growth of persons in freedom and autonomy. We seek to bring about a better world in the context of society and through intercommunity and Church solidarity.
