A smallpox epidemic, 1871

 

In 1871, while a smallpox epidemic ravaged the capital, the Sisters were again summoned.  Mother Bruyère with her companions agreed to place the former hospital for immigrants for the use of the victims.  She gave this shelter the name St. Ann Hospice.
