In an ardent prayer in her own hand, Mother Bruyère had entrusted the life of her Sisters to the Blessed Virgin Mary, fearing they would succumb to the contagion. Of the twenty-one who cared for the sick, although seventeen did fall prey to the disease, not one of them died from typhus.
