The Irish immigrants are entrusted to the Sisters, July, 1845

 

In July, Irish immigrants, mercilessly crowded into sheds made available by the government, found themselves entrusted to the Sisters.  The agent, Mr. Burke, could not find any means to bring them relief.  Mother Bruyère and Sister Thibodeau had visited them for the first time as early as June.
